Welcome to part 3 of the Second Spaces Then & Now series! Those of us who have been in SL for a while know how far design has come over the years. It’s a lot of fun to look back and see what SL looked like in 2005, 2006…and to appreciate the improvements and advancements since then. This series is a fun look at some of SL’s best designers to see how they’ve grown over the years. I also hope this might inspire those who are interested in starting their own designs – everyone has to start somewhere!

Desiree Bisiani is the designer behind Ambiance, and I've had the pleasure of getting to know her over the past few months. Ambiance is known for -- well, being interactive. :) Desiree's designs today are full of texture change options, tons of animations, a multitude of great accessories, and her room sets are truly full sets - everything you need is included.
Of course, this is Then & Now, so let's rewind to March/April 2007...
Then: Desiree's First Bedroom (it didn't even have a set name ;) )
Desiree shared with me that the bed is actually the very first piece of furniture she ever made. Really, for a first attempt, the entire set is well done! The screen even has flexi for the panels. What jumps out at me immediately is the lack of depth and shadow, which is really very common for early design work...but the lines are great, the textures aren't bad - I'd have to say it's impressive for a first shot!
Keep in mind that this set is all regular prims, no sculpts - she did a great job with the mattress, still, giving it the rounded edge. Ahhh, 2007. :) I love that she included a candle tray...and the old school flames gave me a giggle. I still have that flame script in my inventory!
Now: Aphrodite Collection
This is the Ambiance we know and love today. Depth, shadow, tons of texture and animation options, and gorgeous details to round out the room!
That bedding looks so sumptuous!! I only photographed in the cream texture option, but there are several more color schemes to choose from!
I like those candle flames much better. :) Great details, I love the curves on the candle holders. With the texture changing options, you also get different artwork with each color scheme! You can see more recent releases from Ambiance here, here, and here, as well as in-world here!
