iTutu Garden & Furniture - I found iTutu several months ago, and LMed it for a future blog post...then I came across a post about some new stuff earlier today, and that prompted me to get over there and take some pics! iTutu is a must-see for anyone who enjoys the rustic, shabby chic look;  designer Kao Sands does an amazing job with textures to achieve that rustic look. You'll find a great selection of lighting, plants, and furniture, all very reasonably priced! Kao also has some really cute ground covers available - be sure to check out the garden area behind the shop, it's a little floral paradise! You'll also see a TP box in the shop that will take you to her Forest Sky Box - definitely check that out, too!

Here's just a small sampling of what iTutu has to offer - TP over to see the rest!

Have a great weekend!

Just a quick note - be sure to check out the June issue of ROLE magazine! Why? Well, it's a really cool and very well put together magazine...and, as it happens, Second Spaces was featured! [insert squeeing here] Many thanks to Keeley Huet for such a nice piece and such kind words. You can take a look at the ROLE website, or swing by my shop and grab an in-world copy of the magazine from the kiosk just inside the front door. Yay!

Happy weekend, dear readers. :) It's gorgeous here in VA - time to get started on my summer semi-tan! In the meantime, a few fun things to share with you...

Antonia Marat of Artilleri & Artilleri Home has just released this gorgeous vintage-style kettle BBQ! She was kind enough to give away free copies to the first 10 people to provide their names to her on Plurk..and because I am a plurk fiend, I was like number 3. Yay me! Swing by Artilleri Home to pick up yours -- it's color changeable to 9 great options, and gives you yummy food! I enjoyed a kebab or two during the photo shoot.

grill allAwesome details and texturing (of course!), and a must-have for every patio, deck, and back porch this summer!

Leyla Firefly is a busy girl over at Belle  Belle, like always. :) First, a new item for the Lucky Boards -- Tantric Lovin'! A beautiful, fantastical mini-getaway for you and your special someone. Climb inside for meditation, cuddling, kissing, and relaxing. I jumped in for some solo meditation, and got my 'om' on.

tantric

Leyla has also updated her Arne Kitchen. Arne is already one of my favorite kitchens in SL - it's one of the sets I included the very first time I blogged Belle Belle, and I think it's just one of the best in all of SL. Leyla made some minor changes to the aesthetic, and it looks better than ever...and she also added some fun. ;) So, now we call it the Arne Passion Inside Kitchen, and I think you see where I'm going with this. Not only do you get incredible style with this kitchen -- you also get 9 sexy ways to keep things cookin'. (See what I did there?) When Leyla sent this to me, she included a very sweet note (I totally <3 her, btw) and gently suggested that I try the 'Fork" animation. O. M. G. This is one of the most awesome unexpected touches ever -- and the very specific reason I am blogging this -- as you and your pal are pressed up against the refrigerator to...well, to fork...the ice dispenser just starts shooting out ice cubes all over the floor. I still giggle every time.

arne all

I spammed my friends list until someone would agree to come "fork" with me for this picture -- thanks to my pal Dagon Harrison for making it happen. :)

Head over to Belle Belle to see for yourself, and be sure to stalk those Lucky Boards while you're there!

The Expo wraps up tomorrow, so be sure you get there soon!! Four sims of goodness to explore, live DJs and performers throughout the day, and tons of awesome auction and raffle prizes! Remember, too, that this is all for Relay For Life - all purchases of items displayed in RFL vendors go 100% to Relay, as well as the proceeds from the auctions and raffles. There is no better reason to spend your Lindens! :)

I finally finished my exploring last night...so much to see! I also ran into Krissy Muggleston, which was a nice surprise. :) Be sure to check out her blog KrissyLately - it's in my blogroll! And now...on to the finds!

A Take On Simplicity by Felicity Sneerwell: I met Felicity through our mutual friend, Stormy McCallister (Another Man's Treasure), but this was my first opportunity to check out her work. Nice, simple designs, fairly low on prims and still full on style. I like her Karma Outdoor Set - again, really simple, but a great staple for any modern patio...and something about the cushion texture speaks to me. It's got a sort of buttery leather look to it - I like it.

chaise set

Felicity also has the Karma Bathroom Suite - I really like the mix of stone and wood, and the way she's connected the tub  and shower with the shared stone mount is really clever.

bath shower sink

Ambiance Furniture by Desiree Bisiani: the Aphrodite Bathroom is very romantic, without being too froofy (it's a word). There are several more pieces to the set, I just really like the tub vignette. The towel rack is gorgeous, and I love the curves on the candle holders. Very nice!

romantic bath

Elements in Design by Gwen Carillon - another new designer to me. Gwen has several furniture sets on display, as well - it's her Gossip Girl Cafe that caught my eye. Now, I don't watch the show, so I can't comment on authenticity -- but it sure is cute. :) Very warm and cozy interior, and it's a just-right size. This would be adorable nestled in a city block or in a quiet village neighborhood.

cafe all

The Loft by Colleen Desmoulin & -RC- Cluster by Redd Columbia - favorites of mine, of course. :) For the Expo, Colleen has the Speyside Hutch available in green, a color exclusive to the Expo, and all proceeds for RFL. Redd has included her Craft Bag as a RFL item - and it's precious! I had to pick one up for me. It's full of pens, pencils, markers, notebooks, scissors...everything I need to spontaneously wreak havoc. :)

loft all

Scarlet Creative by Charlotte Bartlett: Charlotte has one of her amazing houses on display, and it's also her RFL item. What I fell in love with is her Make Me A Star object -- rez it (it's invisible), and tada - glowy stars circle all around. I grabbed one to add to the fairy garden. I also really love her packaging - clear glass boxes? Yes, please!

[ba] by Barnesworth Anubis: and finally, another of my all-time favorites. :) Barnes has a few of his houses on display, all yummy and a required walk-thru. For his RFL item, he's got the Square Modern Gazebo - great piece for the beach, a zen garden, even a quiet forest hideaway. Possibilities are endless!

Ta da! That concludes my Home Expo 2009 finds. Be sure to get over there today or tomorrow -- I've only shown you a small percentage of what's there, you've got to get out and see the rest! Enjoy!

Hello! Just a few quick items. First -- the Home, Garden, & Patio Expo 2009 starts Monday!!! I'll post again with more info and a SLurl once the expo is open to the public. I'm really excited, on two levels: 1) as a home decor/design blogger, this is a dream come true...and 2) I will have a Second Spaces display set up, and I've been hard at work making newness! There are 55 designers participating in the Expo - several are very familiar to me and have been featured here, and there are a lot of names that are new to me, so I can't wait to see what sort of cool stuff there is to discover! More info coming soon!

Now let me share some more Belle Belle goodies with you. :) Leyla Firefly just keeps releasing more great stuff and sending it to me - and by damn, I will post it! :) Belle Belle is participating in the SL Discovery Hunt that has just kicked off today, and her hunt prize may be worth the entire hunt, all on its own. Check this out:

barbecue-set

You get everything seen here! (Minus the large brick buildings and the cute redhead.) ...(Ok, the redhead is negotiable.) The patio WITH flowers, the table, the umbrella, the fence, and most importantly, the barbecue AND the tongs I'm using to turn my meat! ;) Now THAT is a prize package. The barbecue is animated and also gives out hamburgers, and the table's 6 seats are animated for eating, drinking, and chatting, and the placemats provide utensils. I love this with all my <3.

You can get more info on the Discovery Hunt at www.sldiscovery.com - the Belle Belle set was created just for the hunt and is not available for purchase...so go to the website, get the info and starting points, and get to hunting!

Talk to you soon!

I realize this is like cheat-blogging, and I'm ok with that.  I wanted to get something posted, and I have a list of to-do blog spots that I will get to...but in the meantime, let me show you some things that I have and love! (SLurls are included at the end of the post)

In H&S Village, I've set up what I call our fairy garden. The sim itself isn't especially fantasy-themed, but I loved the fairy gazebo and hideaway from Winx Home & Garden so much that I decided we needed them here! And ta da:

winx-2

winx-1

The gorgeous pink gloo trees and the rainbow rays you see coming from above are both from New Trail - if you still haven't been to the New Trail sim, then go! Now! NOW!

If you look closely, you'll see little white pollen dander thingies floating around the fairy garden:

pollen

I just picked those up from Heart Garden a few weeks ago, and I love them! It's a particle generator, of course, and you get 12 in a pack, including 4 different pollen shops. The pollen floats all over the sim, just like springtime!

The grasses and flowers you see mixed in are from Organica, and I've used them all over the sim. They're perfect, and only 1 prim per grouping!

Most recently, I've fallen in love with Kunstkammer's new dreamscaping grass, seen here in green and mixed in with daisies from Organica. You can get the dreamscaping grass in grey and jellybean, too.

kunstkammer

More cool stuff coming soon!

Locations:

H&S Village (to see it all in action)

Kunstkammer (main location - there's a satellite shop in H&S Village, too)

Winx Home & Garden (Be sure to explore the rest of Oubliette, as well - it's gorgeous!)

Hello, dear readers -- something a bit different today. You may remember the Second Spaces Shadowbox Design contest back in August...the grand prize winner was Maerok Westland with his way-cool outerspace getaway. After the contest, I did a quick interview with Maerok, and we talked about the nanosculpts he's been working with. Well...he messaged me recently to let me know he just finished a big commissioned job for Freesoul Fashion, and he sent over a bunch of it for me to check out. This is why I love being a blogger! ;) Now, of course, I am not a fashion blogger...but since it's our old friend Maerok...and I can see nanosculpts being useful in lots and lots of applications...I figured I'd show you a bit of what Maerok has done.

For starters, we have the diamonds...ahhh, the diamonds. I really do love the tiny little sculpted gems -- very real!

Another set Maerok sent over is the Silver Branches set. This is quite detailed and the nanosculpts really capture the daintiness of the pieces...I'm familiar with similar items in RL, and they are very delicate. Great job on this set!

There are also several men's pieces, too -- way too big for me to model,

so go check these out at Freesoul or IM Maerok for more info.

We now return to our regularly scheduled blogging. ;)

Bruce Liebknecht and his awesome team at PlantPets are so sweet - as thanks for my blog post about their line of interactive plants, they let me have my choice of an updated, brand-new-and-improved PlantPet! With all the hustle and bustle of the new club, I didn't even have a chance to rez it until last night. It's a Delft Blue Hibiscus (or was it a Hyacinth? damn, I'm awful with plants) - and it's gorgeous when it's full grown. I am keeping it paused when I'm not able to stand right there by it, since I can't stand the heartbreak ;) - so I upped it to Super Fast growth speed. I only had about 10 minutes to let it grow last night, and here's how far we've come:

odell_001.jpg

The shading on the leaves is beautiful. As with all PlantPets, you can give a name to your plant -- so meet Odell. I'll update as he sprouts (heh) - I did want to point out the container, though. Very nice texturing.

Thanks so much to Bruce and team!!!

Just a quick update on Otis - he's coming along very nicely. I learned quickly that I should pause growth before I log off SL - otherwise, he slowly drains his water, then sends me an offline IM to let me know he is not happy! The guilt was too much to bear. :) But look how pretty he is!!!

plantpets_013.jpg

Pick up your own at PlantPets!

Ok - this is awesome. I saw the ad for PlantPets on lindenlifestyles.com (where Second Spaces is also currently advertised - yay!) I absolutely love this concept -- plants that grow, and with which you can interact. Genius. Bruce Liebknecht is the mastermind, and I love love love the shop! So cute.

plantpets_004.jpg

There are a variety of roses, asters, calla lilies, hyacinths, whatever-the-plural-of-hibiscus-is (hibscuses? hibiscusii? hibiscu?), and you can purchase gift copies, too. These would be excellent housewarming gifts, by the way. The plants come potted, and Bruce also sells pots individually, or you can re-pot your plant in your own container. The options are so fun:

  • you can set it so friends can water your plant for you (handy)
  • you can check the water level, the development, the health, and the happiness of your plant :)
  • you can turn on IMs from the plant - it will IM you every 12 hours if it's unhappy (awww :( )
  • you can turn on particles for when the plant is happy :)
  • you can set the speed of growth, or pause it completely

So, I had to buy one and check it out. :) I picked up the Eleusis Roseus - which I renamed to Otis, for no specific reason other than because I could. I set it up in the house, then sat on the couch and worked on the club schedule for next week -- saw some pretty significant results over about 30-45 minutes.

plantpets_006.jpg plantpets_007.jpg

plantpets_009.jpg plantpets_010.jpg

See the happy particles? And finally, I sit back and enjoy the bloom. I paused the growth after this part because I had to leave, and I don't want to miss any of it!

plantpets_012.jpg

I'll have to post updated pics as Otis continues to grow -- it's like having a puppy. :) Check out PlantPets here - so fun!
