Now, let's talk about some hall-decking

Hi! Now that I'm done with SUYS for this month (and goodness, what an awesome SUYS it was!), I can start focusing on holiday deco! I'm not a big holiday decorator in RL or SL...and really, even less in SL although it's so much easier here. I've said it before, for someone who is so into SL homes and furniture and decor -- I don't really decorate my own space so much. HOWEVER -- once I had a chance to check out the Christmas market at LISP Bazaar, that all changed!

Pandora Popstar of LISP always, ALWAYS, does an amazing job with all of her designs. Every single holiday item she has out is awesome, and I love that she has quite a bit of vintage included. The best thing of all, though, is that almost all of her holiday stuff is JUST 10L. SRSLY. TEN LITTLE LINDENS. Go. Shop. Decorate. Now.

How Common(er).

In a spooky twist of fate, I recently received a review folder from Emery Milneaux of Commoner. I say spooky because I swear - SWEAR - that I was just checking out Emery's trees on Marketplace, like, 3 days before I got the folder, and had a tab open to that page so that I would remember to check out the shop. SPOOKY.

With that said, let's check Commoner out. It's a new shop to me, and I like what I see so far. Lots of silly, cute, irreverent decor items - you can never have too much of that! We'll start with the very trees that I had been checking out: the Tinsel Trees.

I'll be honest - these aren't quite as well textured as they appeared to be in the vendor pic on Marketplace. I'd like to see a bit more depth in the branches...even a low shine would help, I think, but the trees are no mod, so I couldn't add it. Still, if you're looking for something kitschy for your holiday decorating, these are cute and fun. Definitely worth checking out.

I think these little snowglobes are precious and kooky. 

The Bare Tree globe is my favorite. I really like the one with the picture frame, too...however, I could never get my picture to show up. :( The script kept telling me that I was successful in adding the pic, but it never showed up. That very well could have just been SL being a tool, and nothing to do with the snowglobe itself.

Day of the Dead

I had the best intentions this past week of posting a round-up of all the cool Halloween-related decor items I could find around the grid...but clearly, that didn't happen. I do want to share with you, though, all the cool stuff that Vitrail Illios has available at New Trails. I have always loved everything Vitrail comes out with, and his Los Calaveras collection is gorgeous! So bright and colorful, and so much to choose from!

There are a ton of skulls available in so many colors, as well as trees and grasses, too. I also really like the roots that Vitrail has for these trees; the roots are a separate object, so they're optional...but who wouldn't want them?! They add so much character. The tree shadows are included separately, too, and if you have prim availability for them, I totally recommend using them. They give so much definition to the whole setting!

Speaking of prims: the regular trees you see - the ones without the hanging skulls, but with the lights and the moss - are only 3 prims, and the coordinating roots are only 1 prim. That's pretty awesome for so much detail!

Halloween at The Nest!

Ohhi, new stuff!

Hi! I've got two new releases for you today...

First, the Repurposed Garden set - a classic old dresser refurbished as a quaint planter for your home or garden!

Second, the You're So Vain set - a gorgeous vintage dressing table with an antique brass mirror, and a precious trio of recycled wood vases holding freshly-picked marigolds.

Rayvn Hynes of MudHoney sent me a bunch of goodness last week! Yay for goodness!

First, the Luggage Lounge seating. I love this idea - the trend of luggage as furniture/decor is just fun, and this is a cute and quirky spin on it. The Luggage Lounge includes great animations; as expected, my favorite is where I get to jump. :)

The Valentine-theme wall deco is also from MudHoney - I enjoy the organic feel of the materials. You can't see in the pic, but the little hearts on the  garland are made of book pages. Cute!

Another precious accessory is the Delia Drawers cabinet - great shabby look to it. Rayvn also has the cute little hot chocolate set - I love the marshmallow heart!

I love foyers and entryways, and therefore I love furniture and accessories that are perfect for those spaces. The Breitman Entrance set is great - very classic lines, with just a touch of whimsy in the empty frames and the loose cord on the lamp. I also love the texture on the Concrete Lamp!

Second Spaces is Home for the Holidays!

Hiya! Second Spaces is happy to participate in the Home for the Holidays Hunt, sponsored by Royal Living Magazine! The hunt started this morning, and will run through January 2. There is a great roster of awesome designers, and only about 40 of them (I think), so this is a completely manageable hunt!

Each hunt item is set for sale at 45L, but all are worth at least 500L (it was a requirement!), so there are great bargains to be had!

My item for you is the holiday version of my Cozy Nook set - then entire set, regularly $L750, available for just $L45!! Just look for the wrapped present somewhere in the shop (I made it pretty easy for you).

Each hunt prize will give you the LM to the next shop in the line, so you can start anywhere! I suggest starting at Second Spaces. ;)

Time for giving thanks

Hiya! Second Spaces is participating in this year's ThanksGIVING Community Food Market! It starts today and continues thru November 26 and the proceeds are being donated to the World Food Programme.

Start date: November 5th End date: November 26th

ThanksGIVING is an annual event held around Thanksgiving time in SL to benefit varius food related charities.

This year for ThanksGIVING, along with the traditional thanksgiving dinner party and can drive, there will be a Food Market that will include a wide variety of items by creators around the grid that are for sale with a percentage of proceeds given to The World Food Programme. A minimum of 25% of each item will be donated, some participants donating even more!

My contribution to the Market is my Mismatched Dining set, at a special Thanksgiving price of just $350L! 75% of each dining set sale will be donated to WFP!!

Second Spaces says boo

Hi there! Second Spaces is jumping on the Halloween bandwagon...like, just on the edge of it..or maybe I'm hanging off the side...choose your own metaphor. :) Here's what I've got for you!

I've just added a tiny little Halloween section in the main shop - just follow the bloody footprints from the front door, thru the giant spiderweb...if you hit the ocean, you went too far. I've put out some of my favorites from last Halloween, and a new SPOOKY version (cue scary music) of my Camille Window Seat!

I'm also happy to be participating in the Halloween Hunt for Autism which starts tonight at midnight! Get all the info at the HH4A website -- the short version is that you make a $50L donation to get your trick-or-treat bag, then you get to go around to all the participating shops and grab their treats! There are some AWESOME shops participating - this will most likely be the best 50L you've ever spent! Second Spaces brings you the Dancin' Bones art print for my contribution!

Happy 4th!

Hi there! :) I've been a bit MIA - just taking a little creative break while I can. I do have some really cute freebies for you, though - for my fellow Americans celebrating Independence Day this weekend, I've got a few pieces of good old fashioned Americana!

The trunk and the flag painting were available last year for July 4th, too - I dusted them off and brought them back out, along with a new flag table. It's true. I've thought, and pondered, and mused, and contemplated...and I just haven't been able to find any inspiration for new Valentine's Day items. So, I give up. What I CAN do, though, is have a sale!!! Starting right now, in my main shop, I've marked my pink and red items with little shiny red hearts, and reduced the prices by 50%! All in the name of love!!!

Valentine's Day is looming ever nearer -- I have had zero inspiration for creating Second Spaces Val Day Stuff...which is ok, since other designers are moving right along! Maybe I'll get a brilliant idea in the next day or so, but in the meantime - check out this stuff. :)

Happy February, dear readers. :) The onslaught of Valentine's stuff is well under way, and I say 'bring it on'! First up, Leyla Firefly of Belle Belle has released possibly the most precious bedroom in the history of all Second Life. I am so gonna ask her to be my valentine. ;)

What I'm showing you today is just part of what's available - there are quite a few more pieces and accessories available now at Belle Belle...so I think you know what you need to do.

The rose on the bed is such a sweet touch...and the satin pillows look so very...well, satin-y! Great texturing there...I just wanna slide right across 'em. ;)

Now, this bedroom looks sweet and innocent and fun...but if you know Belle Belle, then you know this set is packed - PACKED - with naughty animations. I didn't bring my boy alt out this time to demonstrate -- we're still a bit awkward from last time. BUT, I will show you just a few of the menus from both the bed and the chaise. Not for the innocent!

I also checked out the holiday location of MB-Creationz by Minke Bailey. I have seen Minke's work before, and it's good stuff. Her holiday collection is filled with color and whimsy, and definitely worth taking a look! There's a lot to see, so here's just a sampler!
